He was THAT tired

So Parker's naps are few and far in between. He has taken naps the last couple of days, but it is because he has been sick. Anyway, last week (sorry for the lack of blogging posts) he was playing while I was loading the dishwasher and I didn't hear him and I looked over to find this-
Yep, he feel asleep right under the piano- apparently he was so tired he just feel asleep where he was.

Meals

So, aside from this week (Parker has been sick, ornery, and sleeping quite awful which makes for a tired, rather unmotivated mommy- but the house is CLEAN- the meals have just been pretty basic) but, I have been branching out and trying new recipes. Here are a couple that I made that are just freakin' awesome!

I have discovered a great site- The Pioneer Woman- She has some awesome recipes. These tasty little gems are Molten Chocolate Lava cakes and the are DELICIOUS! Ignore the fact that they are still in the baking cups, they looked so awesome on the plate with the whipped cream (homemade of course :) It was a great Valentine's Day dessert.
This dish here, well, the lighting and the fact that I don't take fantastic pictures don't do justice to the dish. It is Cajun Chicken Pasta and I have probably made it 3 times in the last 3-4 weeks. FANTASTIC- but I don't put the tomatoes in it, and I do add cornstarch to thicken the sauce. Anyway, I am just trying to branch out and try new dishes. Joe can be pretty picky, and so I tend to stick to the same old, same old and I am kinda tired of that all the time. So, I am excited to keep trying new dishes, and hopefully will keep having success. :)

Kids Say

the darndest things :)
It just amazes me how much Parker talks (and I understand) and how much HE understands-

*In the car on the way home from church

Parker- "Oh sad horses, poor horses" (we pass quite the livestock on the way home :)
Me: "Oh why?"
Parker- "Barn, no Barn- Cold Horse, so sad."
Me- "Well, the horses have hair, like a blanket, so they can stay warm" (Ironically, whenever I pass horses and it is cold outside, I think "Oh, poor horses, they must be so cold outside")
Parker- "Oh, blanket, oh, ok."

*After passing the baby cows on the way home

Parker- "Oh, cute baby cows, so cute. Where baby cows?"
Me: "I don't know, where are they?"
Parker- "Follow mommas"

*Parker is always telling me good job wether it be helping him, cleaning something, or whatever the case may be, he tells me Good Job Momma, Good Job. Or he is always telling me Thanks, or Thank you-
"Thanks helping me Momma" "Thanks Cleaning Room Momma" etc. He also told me "Awesome Momma, Awesome" when I emptied the garbages :)

*He is also so very polite. He says "Thanks" or "Thank you", "You're Welcome" (or "Welcome") "No Thank you", "Please", "Bless You" (when you sneeze) etc.

*He says "Yummy", "Yum", "Yum Yum Yum", or one of my personal favorites- "Icious" when something is especially tasty, such as bathwater, cheese sandwiches, or pancakes.

*He is VERY good at his letters, he knows each letter (for the most part- he gets "m's" and "n's" mixed up) but he knows the bigger letter, verses the little letter. He knows his numbers and loves to count.

*Thanks in part to Little Einsteins, Parker is VERY good at his instruments. He knows flutes, violins, trumpets, piccolo, drum, etc. He can pick out the different sounds of the instruments and the differences in songs.

* The other night we were watching the movie "9" and Parker was getting a little scared at what was going on, so we stopped the movie, went in his room and I asked him how he was doing. "scary momma, bird hurt people, poor people, scary bird" CRAZY! But then he wanted to keep watching it, so we just sat by him and he seemed to be fine.

*He is very sensitive, he will ask what is "wong" when he thinks there is something wrong, and is so quick to try and make you feel better.

I am truly amazed by my child- I'd like to think that I have taught him some, but I think he really just is amazing, he comprehends so much more than I think and would have thought.

Priceless...

Is it it slightly ironic that you spend money on toys, games, etc and yet it is the free cardboard boxes that daddy brings home from work that provide such joy.

And then when you have played your little heart out-
Sorry, I was playing with the editing program on the Mac for the pictures...

I love that we go through all of the work to get the door in JUST the right place only for 3 seconds later to open it again :)

Singing

Parker LOVES to sing, and he especially loves songs that has actions that go along with them- ie. The Monkey Song, Popcorn Song, The Snowman song, the Happy Song (If You're Happy and You Know It) Ring and Round the Rosies, etc. And it makes me laugh that every time we sing the Monkey Song- it is all about compromise when it comes to the amount of monkeys that we start with. Parker usually wants 8- I start with 3 and we usually end up 5 or lower (cause I only want to use one hand...) Here are some cute pictures and videos that I took the other day while we were singing.

He was getting ready to make his "sad boy" face (that is what he calls is- it is such a FAKE sad face and it makes me laugh every time) in this one because he fell down (intentionally)

Few and Far

In-between are naps anymore. Parker might have a nap once a week, but sometimes, he might not have one at all. I think that it is getting used to not getting as much sleep- I would rather he take naps and get more sleep, but if he doesn't feel like he needs one, I am not going to push it. He does go to sleep a LITTLE earlier, but it depends what time he gets up also. He typically gets up somewhere between 6:30-7:30 and goes to sleep around 9-9:30. He is such a sweetie, but I have to admit that I don't mind finding him like this

And I didn't put him in his room crying- he just feel asleep in the car, I laid him in his bed and apparently this was a more comfortable position... :)
